About Mary.
My name is Mary Naples and I am the Owner of The Crate Escape. Ever since I could read, my nose has been stuck in books about animals. I have had the pleasure to share my life with dogs, horses, cats, rabbits, mice, rats, guinea pigs, chinchillas, birds and fish. Also at times, wild birds and mammals that needed rehabilitation.
Currently I share my home with four dogs, mother and daughter rescued Lab mixes, a long haired Chihuahua and a smooth coated Chihuahua.
In 2004 I rescued over 70 dogs from Georgia that were all scheduled to be euthanized. I spent three months caring for the dogs and was able to get every one adopted, except for the two that live with me.
I have worked with animals the past 15 years in various professions, from pet stores, to grooming, pet sitting, horse boarding and dog daycare. My clients on the nature adventures are the happiest pets I have worked with, and I never get tired of watching their joy in living.
At the Crate Escape we believe in positive reinforcement for your dog and we do not take any aggressive dogs on the outings. We welcome educated dog owners and recommend titers testing over shots. Our belief is, natural is best. My own dogs eat the highest rated kibble plus meat purchased at the grocery store.....check out dogfoodanalysis.com or talk to Doug at Falmouth Pet.
We only care for pets that are family members and do not service dogs that are kept outdoors.
Please check and double check before leaving your family member with any pet care provider. Ask many people in your town for recommendations. If you must leave your dog at a kennel, ask to visit the area he will be kept and also make an unexpected visit. A reputable kennel will let you inspect. Check that all pets have water and are kept clean. Listen to your dog. If he does not want to go to daycare after four or five times, there is a reason for that.
When hiring a pet sitter make sure they are fully insured, with a business license, and if transporting your pets they carry vehicle insurance specifically for that.
